That's a point. Merse used to be beautiful with the outside of foot. I remember won game in the '91-'92 season - I think it was 7-1 vs Sheff Weds - where he lobbed the keeper from the left hand corner of the box into the far top corner with the outside of his boot. Utterly Divine.

Couldn't Dec try to slice in an inswinger with the outside of his right boot? Would be a good skill to practice, passing it out wide to the wingers from the middle of the park.
Hang on. Don't we pay a bloke a lot of money to work this **** out?

Yeah, I was thinking that. But as you say, we only had one suitable, otherwise unengaged southpaw on the pitch and he's basically a Chelsea player so there was really nothing to be done about it.

      Early doors.

Merse was really excited about us signing Eze and I was wondering if he will turn out to be half as good.

One solution is to be less reliant on corners.....or for Martinelli to win a few the other side.

We are not "reliant" on corners, we're merely good at them.

Arteta is on record as saying he wants to maximise every phase of the game in our advantage. That includes corners, throw ins, goal kicks and indeed; open play.

                Exactly right too. Well said.
