What is the deal with Martinez?
Rumours gathering pace about a move to United. Now there?s a club we can no longer envy.

Still surprised they didn't go for Ramsdale. Not sure Martinez is the answer to their keeper issues plus he's a massive prick.

I honestly though Rambo would be our 'keeper for yonks. Reminded me of Sir Chez. He doesn't play out from the back like MA wants but as a shot stopper and commanding box presence, you can do a lot worse.

Raya is so much better with his hands, not his feet. Brilliant on crosses and corners, outstanding handling.

I liked Ramsdale but Raya definitely improved us...... and at a very good price.

Oh, I agree he's much better with his hands. But I think the reason MA switched was ball playing ability.

I just hope our set piece practise gets him to stop this "give him 80% of a side to aim for" and we find a left footed corner taker.

NWaneri can take corners, so can the captain. Neither were on the pitch.

Only left footers were Madeueke, Calafiori and Gabriel, two of whom are major targets in the box.

They haven't even scored yet either apparently. Not good.

Try something different then. What's going on in training.

It's only been in the last two or three years I've realised how much I dislike outswinging corners. And how essentially worthless they are.

Maybe knock the corner back so someone can swing it into the box?

The only time they work is the 1 in 100 worldy volley from a player on the edge of the box.

Or you hit beyond the far post with a fairly straight hit. But even then, pretty ****e

But back in the day we had Kevin Richardson and Paul Merson taking them, both right-footers. What went wrong.

That's a point. Merse used to be beautiful with the outside of foot. I remember won game in the '91-'92 season - I think it was 7-1 vs Sheff Weds - where he lobbed the keeper from the left hand corner of the box into the far top corner with the outside of his boot. Utterly Divine.

Couldn't Dec try to slice in an inswinger with the outside of his right boot? Would be a good skill to practice, passing it out wide to the wingers from the middle of the park.
