You always say that. Anyway, that's what the Brentford lad is for.

Northerners will always hate London more than they hate each other.Originally posted by Rich View PostHear me out here... If Newcastle are as deeply upset with Liverpool as they seem to be; would it be beyond the realms of possibility that we go to Josh and Stan with our begging bowl and get a deal for Isak done.
They'd much rather sell to us now after Liverpool took Etikete from under their noses and then unsettled the player with a low ball bid. I cannot see them selling Isak to Liverpool at all. And I can't see Isak wanting to go to Saudi."Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

Not entirely sure about that. Manchester vs Liverpool vs Leeds....all hate each other. The scouse lass in our office gets a load more grief than us 4 Southerners....plus we're far less vitriolic and partisan in any football conversations. Even the Southern United fan is reasonable.Originally posted by Peter View PostAnd quite rightly so.

That is office squabbling. If a masked gunman came in they'd shove the Londoners to the front to get shot firstOriginally posted by PSRB View PostNot entirely sure about that. My Scouse mates at uni - '89-'92 - respected us but thought that the city of Manchester was such an irredeemable, plague-ridden sheet-hole that the best thing to do with it was slaughter all the inhabitants and raise it to the ground. And that was before City's doping.Originally posted by redgunamo View PostNortherners will always hate London more than they hate each other.
Didn't like much of the rest of the north either. Felt it was beneath them.
Though they went to Highbury for that Ray Kennedy testimonial in our second year, '90-1, when we won the league back off them.
So don't know how true that comment is.
If you see the {non-sport - the politics} comments in The Times, some northerners really hate London and seem to think we're all best mates running an anti-northern conspiracy. They'd never believe the south vs north of the river, East vs West, suburbs vs central, right and wrong end of Seven Sisters Road etc.
I know nothing about how the Geordie ownership think. But it seems the Scousers bought the forward NU were gonna sign if a huge offer came in, and then destabilised Isak, but only once AFC and MU had spent their summer's striker money so no bidding war.

Scousers and Mancs are not typical of your average northener. In my experience, scousers don't generally hate Londoners as a matter of principle- it is more that there are things about us they don't like. Or rather, stereotypes that many of us do not demonstrate.Originally posted by Ganpati's Goonerz--AFC's Aboriginal Fertility Cult View PostMy Scouse mates at uni - '89-'92 - respected us but thought that the city of Manchester was such an irredeemable, plague-ridden sheet-hole that the best thing to do with it was slaughter all the inhabitants and raise it to the ground. Mancs are a bit different in that they see their own city as some form of cultural rival to London.
When I think Northerner, I am not thinking scouse or manc. I am thinking about your yorkshireman, and those further up. Geordies despise everything about our city, but even there, most geordies I have met have been good fun. Those from other places in the North East, not so much....
The only place my accent has ever caused serious trouble is Leeds. Oh, and Nottingham, when we walked into the wrong pub after a match. That got interesting pretty quickly, in a Slaughtered Lamb fashion
