Hear me out here... If Newcastle are as deeply upset with Liverpool as they seem to be; would it be beyond the realms of possibility that we go to Josh and Stan with our begging bowl and get a deal for Isak done.

My Scouse mates at uni - '89-'92 - respected us but thought that the city of Manchester was such an irredeemable, plague-ridden sheet-hole that the best thing to do with it was slaughter all the inhabitants and raise it to the ground. And that was before City's doping.

Didn't like much of the rest of the north either. Felt it was beneath them.

Scousers and Mancs are not typical of your average northener. In my experience, scousers don't generally hate Londoners as a matter of principle- it is more that there are things about us they don't like. Or rather, stereotypes that many of us do not demonstrate.

Mancs are a bit different in that they see their own city as some form of cultural rival to London.

When I think Northerner, I am not thinking scouse or manc. I am thinking about your yorkshireman, and those further up. Geordies despise everything about our city, but even there, most geordies I have met have been good fun. Those from other places in the North East, not so much....

The only place my accent has ever caused serious trouble is Leeds. Oh, and Nottingham, when we walked into the wrong pub after a match. That got interesting pretty quickly, in a Slaughtered Lamb fashion
