you are falling into the trap of looking at football as a metrics game. While goals win games you need to look at what a Gyokeres or Martinelli does to our fluidity. To our ability to create. They both kill it when they lose the ball (or fail to make a good progressive choice). They are both largely as bad as each other but Gyokeres also suffers because despite his size; he is very weak on account of his poor balance.

with Havertz we look so much more fluid. So much more dangerous. The team have confidence around him and everything just works better. Will be the same with Alvarez if we can get it done.

Flair players will flatter to deceive when it goes wrong but they’re there to crack open a puzzle nobody else could. Respectfully... blaming Vik and Martinellinin for our lack of fluidity is absurd. We had no fluidity last season because we played stodgy football. Width attacks that forced possession and retreat. Nothing to do with the forward line.

I completely agree re Havertz and he is a huge reason why I dont want to spend 140 million on a guy who is a worse striker than him.

You shattered your football credibility on here by telling us that Gyok was the worst player you had ever seen play for Arsenal only for him to then lead the club in scoring. Arteta started him in both CL semi final games ahead of Havertz and he outplayed Alvarez easily over the two legs. You've never forgiven him for it, we understand this, but it's time to move on.

Alvarez looks a good player, not better than that. If Rory Delap is worth 50mil (he isn't) then Alvarez should be worth around 80mil or so, but he's never a 120mil player. He's not as good as Havertz and Tzolis has looked excellent so far and is much more of a wide attacking player than Alvarez. I wouldn't start him over either of the two. So we spend 120mil on a player to give us some depth up front? Not for me.

I'm with you and WES. We are champions, we've replaced Leo with Quantum {which thus far looks like a touch}, Norgy with Bruno and just added Konsa for the sake of it. Last season we had B, Odin and Kai injured for large parts and still won. Kai's back - 2 in 2, Ødin looks in his pre-injury best AMF in the league form and B seems fit and firing.

We just needed to keep GabbyGol to be almost odds-on faves. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

He doesn't want to come, his huge family entourage won't all get visas and from the moment he's here he'll be angling with Barca to move there cut price in the way Isak tried to keep NU out of the CL to make his move easier.

Exactly. And we know exactly how Barcelona operate. He'll sulk for a season and the media campaign will start before Christmas. We'll end up selling him to Barcelona the following summer for a huge loss.
