He's not that good, he's very expensive and he doesn't want to come here.
Why on earth would we be involved in this? Perhaps, just perhaps, there is nothing to this at all other than internet rumours.

That! Is precisely what will happen. If he comes here he should made to walk the full perimeter of The Emirates wearing nothing but pink fluffy panties while waving a white flag with "Argie Cissy Boy" boldy emblazoned on it.Originally posted by Peter View Post
Exactly. And we know exactly how Barcelona operate. He'll sulk for a season and the media campaign will start before Christmas. We'll end up selling him to Barcelona the following summer for a huge loss.
He's an Argie! You cannot trust the ****.
I saw an interview with Paul Scholes where he said it tickled him how all the Argies at Man U used to try and act like hard men.He reckoned not one of them could have knocked the skin off a rice pudding.

Good. I just want our injured players back. I want to see Timber at RB combining with an in form Saka, I want to see Bruno running midfield with Declan and I'd love to see Saliba reaquainted with Gabriel in the middle stoning absolutely everything.Originally posted by Peter View Post
I read a BBC article about the Alvarez 'saga'. On and on and on it went. We were not mentioned once....
How the f*ck can we have an injury crisis after one f*cking game??? #fuming

Don't be f ucking ridiculous Rich. What could Atletico possibly want with our 3 legged one-eyed donkey? And where are you getting your info? Even in the most salacious, gossipy, devoid of integrity rags that just make it up for clicks, I'm not seeing your rumours repeated?

I'm with you and WES. We are champions, we've replaced Leo with Quantum {which thus far looks like a touch}, Norgy with Bruno and just added Konsa for the sake of it. Last season we had B, Odin and Kai injured for large parts and still won. Kai's back - 2 in 2, Ødin looks in his pre-injury best AMF in the league form and B seems fit and firing.
We just needed to keep GabbyGol to be almost odds-on faves. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
He doesn't want to come, his huge family entourage won't all get visas and from the moment he's here he'll be angling with Barca to move there cut price in the way Isak tried to keep NU out of the CL to make his move easier.
Really don't like this at all.

Our offer is allegedly and either/or offer. EUR 140mill or EUR 98m + Gyokores.
Martinelli and Gyokores (the two massive weak links in our squad as I have been saying for many months) gone and replaced with huge upgrades.
be excited.

Respectfully... blaming Vik and Martinellinin for our lack of fluidity is absurd. We had no fluidity last season because we played stodgy football. Width attacks that forced possession and retreat. Nothing to do with the forward line.
I completely agree re Havertz and he is a huge reason why I dont want to spend 140 million on a guy who is a worse striker than him.
Happy to be proved wrong. But I fear this is a gigantic sum for a guy we dont need and who doesnt seem to want to come here.

If he does come, instead of the usual unveiling of him in the shirt I would want to see a video of him stating that the Falkland Islands are British and always will be. That's a deal breaker for me.Originally posted by WES View Post
You're trying too hard, Rich, stop embarassing yourself. You shattered your football credibility on here by telling us that Gyok was the worst player you had ever seen play for Arsenal only for him to then lead the club in scoring. Arteta started him in both CL semi final games ahead of Havertz and he outplayed Alvarez easily over the two legs. You've never forgiven him for it, we understand this, but it's time to move on.
Alvarez looks a good player, not better than that. If Rory Delap is worth 50mil (he isn't) then Alvarez should be worth around 80mil or so, but he's never a 120mil player. He's not as good as Havertz and Tzolis has looked excellent so far and is much more of a wide attacking player than Alvarez. I wouldn't start him over either of the two. So we spend 120mil on a player to give us some depth up front? Not for me.
Plus he's an Argie, so f*ck him. We're all guessing, of course, but my guess is he stays at Atletico. I hope I'm right.

We have him, John, his name is Kai HavertzOriginally posted by John Bunnell View PostWe need a striker who can actually control a ball. Would be nice. We won the league with a striker with the first touch of a capybara, imagine what we could do with a fully competent striker.

you are falling into the trap of looking at football as a metrics game. While goals win games you need to look at what a Gyokeres or Martinelli does to our fluidity. To our ability to create. They both kill it when they lose the ball (or fail to make a good progressive choice). They are both largely as bad as each other but Gyokeres also suffers because despite his size; he is very weak on account of his poor balance.
with Havertz we look so much more fluid. So much more dangerous. The team have confidence around him and everything just works better. Will be the same with Alvarez if we can get it done.
I highlighted these two players early last season as being a problem and now you see that Arteta and the board agree with me. Also Madueke and Eze while both bench options offer an element of flair. Flair players will flatter to deceive when it goes wrong but they’re there to crack open a puzzle nobody else could. It might take them 20 attempts but it can be the difference between one and three points. Between going through to the next round or not. Arteta gets this.
It’s going to be a long season and we all (or at least I do) have lofty expectations. We must behave like a big club. trust the process. UTA.?
