Respectfully, p; I must disagree. And I’ll tell you why.

you are falling into the trap of looking at football as a metrics game. While goals win games you need to look at what a Gyokeres or Martinelli does to our fluidity. To our ability to create. They both kill it when they lose the ball (or fail to make a good progressive choice). They are both largely as bad as each other but Gyokeres also suffers because despite his size; he is very weak on account of his poor balance.

with Havertz we look so much more fluid. So much more dangerous. The team have confidence around him and everything just works better. Will be the same with Alvarez if we can get it done.

I highlighted these two players early last season as being a problem and now you see that Arteta and the board agree with me. Also Madueke and Eze while both bench options offer an element of flair. Flair players will flatter to deceive when it goes wrong but they’re there to crack open a puzzle nobody else could. It might take them 20 attempts but it can be the difference between one and three points. Between going through to the next round or not. Arteta gets this.

It’s going to be a long season and we all (or at least I do) have lofty expectations. We must behave like a big club. trust the process. UTA.?

Respectfully... blaming Vik and Martinellinin for our lack of fluidity is absurd. We had no fluidity last season because we played stodgy football. Width attacks that forced possession and retreat. Nothing to do with the forward line.

I completely agree re Havertz and he is a huge reason why I dont want to spend 140 million on a guy who is a worse striker than him.

Happy to be proved wrong. But I fear this is a gigantic sum for a guy we dont need and who doesnt seem to want to come here.
