  • Mentioned that I liked Bond movies and was

strongly advised to watch a film called Layer Cake, to see the performance that got Daniel Craig the role.

Any good? I notice "Sir" Gambon is in it.
"Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

"But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."

Very silly, but very good film. Well worth watching, if only for the always excellent Colm Meaney

          Top 5 Bond movies

          1) Thunderball
          2) Live and Let Die
          3) Goldfinger
          4) Casino Royale
          5) Man with the Golden Gun

And no, I can't include Dr No just because of Honey Ryder, there needs to be more to it than that.

          Only just, mind

                  Less perverted but similarly weird.

It's almost like you like to decide not to like something, despite knowing little about it, for no reason other than that many other people like it

Yeah, like the really obscure bands that I like, such as Zeppelin......

I don't really like sci fi and I don't really like silly spy films. Nobody in my house watched them growing up and I never felt any desire to watch them later in life.

It isn't as if I am here deploring mainstream movies and saying the Godfather is ****. It is just two weird examples of things I haven't seen.

I wouldn't bother watching a Star Wars movie. Awful and followed by utter deviants.

I haven't seen the Godfather or any of those Yank gangster flicks. But Roger Moore as Bond driving up a Dover beach in his Lotus Elite submarine convertible and winding down the window to throw out a fish while his tie was still perfectly in place is class.

Very good, I enjoyed it. A sort of Guy Ritchie double A-side. Everyone was good in it, your chaps especially but Sir Michael's Rada-lout, mockney turn really stole the show, as ever.
