I'm being silly. Just don't fancy him but he could certainly do a job."Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.
"But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."

Good point, R. Never thought of that.Originally posted by Rich View PostGood looking chap too so he'd fit right in.
Let's hope we've got enough shirts left."Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

I'm very happy with the squad, especially if we can offload Zinchenko, Nelson, Vieira, Lokonga. Even just get them off the wage bill.Originally posted by Ganpati's Goonerz--AFC's Aboriginal Fertility Cult View PostI hope we don't have to, but everyone else, now incl WHU, are looking at flogging part of their women's teams to their owners to fiddle the books.
I'll be honest - I'm perfectly happy with the squad as it is {without, sadly, Fabio, Zinny, Reiss, Sambi etc} and if we can upgrade Yakob, so be it. I like him and am glad he's done his best for us and I don't want to stop him playing every week when he's played well in the CL knockouts. {I do think he would cost more if he was coming to the prem as a proved 25 yr old. I would have liked a bit more profit.} But I'm happy with the squad. We also have Jeez to come back who shouldn't be written off, especially when he won't be the main man and can do his thing more from the bench and out wide.
Has to be said our academy has produced some serious talent in the last few years. Saka, smith rowe, nketiah, Nelson, MLS, Nwaneri, and now Dowman.

Yeah, that is good. I just wish the injuries hadn't started already, but it could come to benefit us in the end, Ganpati willing.Originally posted by Peter View PostI'm very happy with the squad, especially if we can offload Zinchenko, Nelson, Vieira, Lokonga. Even just get them off the wage bill.

I see the defender is likely to be done today and that Berta is attentive and ready to respond for one more 'should an opportunity present itself'.Originally posted by Peter View PostI'm very happy with the squad, especially if we can offload Zinchenko, Nelson, Vieira, Lokonga. I?d have preferred a midfielder. We look light in that area in relation to defence & attack. Anything happens to Rice or Zubi and we?re relying on journeymen .Originally posted by Rich View PostI see the defender is likely to be done today and that Berta is attentive and ready to respond for one more 'should an opportunity present itself'.

He's a paper hard man who has been injured since he got here, and who will find very quickly that tackles that are a ticking off at Brentford are a red card at Arsenal.Originally posted by PSRB View PostA bit harsh on the previous Brentford captain. Not exactly a journeyman.
Now THAT is harsh

I agree with you, but this defender is about selling Kiwior.Originally posted by 7sisters View PostI?d have preferred a midfielder. We look light in that area in relation to defence & attack. Anything happens to Rice or Zubi and we?re relying on journeymen .
Beyond the Brentford lad and Merino, we have other potential options in midfield. Rice can be deployed in the deeper role, Eze potentially in the more advanced one (although I don't like the balance of that, personally).
However- I do agree with your point. Our cover in other areas is far better. Long term injuries to Zubimendi or Rice would cause us a bit of bother.....

As PSRB says, bit harsh. Norgy looked rather tasty in pre-season. And we can just play one of Dec or Zubi if need be. I still think MnM can be a great player - his injury at the start and then all the other injuries meant we never saw him in MF. We've seen he can finish, and most of his goals were Freddie like, arriving late in the box. He has some lovely touches on the edge of the box and has played with Zubi. {And Odin?} We also have Eze and Kai as L8s in a 4-1-2-3 formation.Originally posted by 7sisters View PostI?d have preferred a midfielder. And Brentford fans were gutted to lose Norgy - their chairman said he was cool with the deal cos he'd given 5 great years to them and he couldn't begrudge the player a chance to win things with his last big contract. Civilised lot, that lot. Like the Eagles with Eze.
We used to have Torreira and Gwendo in the starting XI FFS.
Shall I mention Rambo just to trigger WES? Though he scored some sexy goals.
I actually loved Jorgy, really intelligent player. But let's not slag off Norgy until we've seen him and I still think MnM can be a very, very, very useful player for us.

The 4-1-2-3 belongs in the bin. It does not ****ing work!Originally posted by Ganpati's Goonerz--AFC's Aboriginal Fertility Cult View PostAs PSRB says, bit harsh. And WES is not the only one triggered by mentions of Ramsey. One of the few things WES and I thoroughly agree on.
Lovely lad but not a midfielder by any stretch (Ramsey, not WES).
