  • So if we sign the striker, our second 11 is

    Kepa
    White Mosquera Kiwior Calafiori
    Norgaard Merino Nwaneri
    Madueke Gyokeres Trossard

    Not bad at all, really.

    It's on

Agree - Would just like to see Trossard sold, Martinelli in that Second XI and a gun left winger in the starting XI to really raise our levels.

Nah, not for me Rich, I love Gabi. He suffers from our right sidedness, if we improve our play down the left and/or teach him to play centrally more often we'll see the best of him.

If I was to poke holes in the that 11 I'd like to see someone up front more likely to create something out of nothing and win a game.

Sell Trossard and buy Eze maybe.

Well I think he needs to improve on his dribbling and general output. Not that I dislike him but if he gets injured then it's Trossard.

The something out of nothing forward isn't something really attainable. Isak and Alvarez at Athletico are the only two I can think of.

It's a shame that Chelsea signed that Estavo kid from Brazil. Supposed to be the next world superstar.

Funnily enough, IF we do sign GYokeres, it could make things slightly more difficult for Martinelli. Teams will have to defend deeper against Gyokeres which will make it even harder to get Martinelli in behind them. OR they'll push up their line to where Gyokeres is and make it easier.

Key for me is balancing the midfield to get Odegaard in dangerous spaces. That is how we drag opponents around and create space.

My biggest concern in the current squad is the drop in quality between the first and second choice central midfielders. Rice to Merino is a big drop. Zubimendi to Norgaard looks large.

Eh ? Gyokeres as a back up to Havertz ?
                Nice fishing, Wes

Havertz is really rather good, 7s.

                  And yes, I'm serious

Have to say I agree here. He'll be our starting striker. I'm quite excited at how he appears to have bulked up during his time out injured. Always wanted to see him be a bit more physical.

I see him more as a, hold up and lay off player, never a finisher. I wonder if fah fah two could be an option ?

Gyokeres drifts more to the left a la Titi {while Kai was more central or right.} So we could have Gabi, Gyok and MLS/Dec overloads on the left like we used to have with Titi, Bobby and Cashley.

Havertz (if fit) will start over Gyokeres against United - 100%

Possibly. But the optics of crying out for one of the best finishers in Europe and leaving him on the bench will rattle more than a few.
I can see transitions are a natural thing but if this guy isn?t a starter by Xmas, it?s going to look like a poor return, especially with all of these guaranteed add ons

Oh we're definitely looking at him as a starter, just don't think away at United in the 1st game of the season is the time, throw him on 2nd half, imo
