Let's be honest. Nwaneri was way off the pace on the right last season (two or three games aside). So much so that we had to play Saka for 90 mins twice a week.

    That's why we want Noni.

We have a great youth prospect, who?s only going to get better next season, and more than capable of deputising for Saka or Odegaard.
I?d rather pump that ?50m plus into a top class left winger to compete with Martinelli.
No. I disagree and think that Nwaneri was very poor on the right (wouldn't track back etc). That's why Arteta stopped picking him ffs.

We could indeed accept Nwaneri on the right. But if we want to win titles we need to get this ****e mentality out of our system.

Arteta constantly says it - look at the other top teams and the options they have. You don't not sign someone like Maduekle for fear of upsetting Nwaneri (who has had some flashes but is way off a top player).

We are all guilty of it - perhaps years of conditioning has lead to this. But times are changing and we need to start thinking like a big club.

Bring Noni now and then get Eze/Rodrygo/both.

You?re speaking as if Madueke is a generational talent, significantly above that of Nwaneri. He isn?t; If he was, Chelsea wouldn?t have sidelined him.
There?s really not a compelling argument to try to sign all three. Eze and Rodrygo would cover most outcomes. We still have Trossard, Martinelli, Saka, Havertz and that?s assuming we sell Jesus at some point.

He started most of Chelesa's PL games and 11 goals in 47 games is an output that's very respectable for a right winger. He's clearly a couple of levels above where Nwaneri is at this moment and Arteta has been pretty open that he doesn't fancy Nwaneri on the right.

So I hope we do sign Noni. Means we are not so reliant on Saka.

And I hope we get Eze or Rodrygo and sell one of Trossard or Martinelli.... Sounds like Trossard to Turkey is all but done.

Yes, for a' that, "Mikel knows" is the important thing to keep in mind.
"Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

And you think he is ready to play in Odegaard's role? Centre of the press, control of tempo? Ridiculous

He was not very poor on the right. He had some good games, he had some ordinary ones where he was trying to do too much.

The fact is we are looking at paying a lot of money for someone who has glaring weaknesses in his game and only covers one position, where we already have cover.

This doesn't feel like an arteta signing to me, and that worries me.

You're in luck, Rich. Just had the here we go from your man. More than 50 million. Madness.

At this stage, I wouldn't totally rule out Nwaneri leaving. I ****ing hope not, bit this is going to make those contract discussions much harder.

I would rather we spent the money on Eze or Rodrygo as well however it should be pointed out that he is considered to be capable of playing out wide on either side.

And if I recall correctly, there were similar objections when we bought Havertz, and these objections continued some ways into the season.

I'm happy to trust Arteta, there is no way he was bought without Arteta wanting him.

Well, he doesn't fit the type of players that Arteta has usually signed- tidy, diligent, effective. But maybe the likes of Madueke and Gyokeres are an attempt to loosen us up a bit and cause a bit of chaos. This guy likes to run at people. Maybe we will try him on the left, although his right foot is not great (I have watched a few videos that have now tempted me to believe it is actually better than I thought it was).

And clearly Arteta knows the guy. I find it an odd signing and he must have plans for him other than just cover for Saka.

I did see someone on X claiming he would knock Saka out of the side within 3 months...... I had to put my phone down and walk around the block.

You expect a bit of flat earth and some gender nonsense, but I wasn't prepared for something as ridiculous as that!

Indeed. Also claims that Gaucho Gabriel will replace Arteta within three months lol

Hmmm. I wouldn?t entirely rule that one out, if we?re stuttering again by Christmas
