I'm not against that, either. He's younger than Saka, played nearly 50 times for Chelsea last season and they're not short of options.

Plenty of goals - could maybe improve on his assists. But it will be nice to have someone to share the load with Saka... Seems the plan for Nwaneri is to play more centrally.

    I don't like his hair.

It cannot have escaped Mikel's notice that our improvement has corresponded with the banishment of any player with a stupid, complicated hairdo.
"Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

"But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."

From what I have seen, he is remarkably one footed. And whatever the plan is for Nwaneri ther is no doubt this deal will steal minutes from him.

I would have thought the priority would be enhancing the other flank but we will see what happens.

He'll need an extended rest after the Club World Cup so plenty of time to get a short back & sides sorted.

Well I think we can all agree that Saka was overplayed last season. I see it as an investment in him.

Attitude problems, a decent talent but has a habit of going missing, Saka & Nwaneri are better. Weird one.

Nwaneri is sat right there, ready to play. He is in fact currently mulling over a new contract which, apparently, is going to rely to some extent on the amount of opportunities he gets.

Trossard is capable of playing there as well. Spending 50 million on a guy who's right foot isn't really good enough to play in Saka's role and who, according to Chelsea fans, only turns up when he fancies it and is ****e at defensive work, is a strange decision however you cook it.

His qualities make him a specialist in one position. A reserve specialist. Arteta does NOT like those. I hate to say it, but he reminds me a little of Nicolas Pepe

Exactly the sort of player Arteta hates..... for me this is worrying. Not just the signing itself, but what it might suggest about how our new structure if working. You may recall that before Edu/ Arteta this side of our business was a ****ing mess.

It doesn't matter what the long term plan for Nwaneri is. In the short term he is capable of strong performances on the right flank and there are minutes available to him in that position. Close that off and he gets less playing time.

Agree. That?s my gripe with it all. I keep hearing that Arteta wants him to play him more down the middle as a back up for Odin. If that?s the case then why didn?t he do it more last season when Odegaard was stinking the place out ?
We have a great youth prospect, who?s only going to get better next season, and more than capable of deputising for Saka or Odegaard.
I?d rather pump that ?50m plus into a top class left winger to compete with Martinelli.

Exactly! Better ways to spend the money.

My issue is more about the club that the money is going to.

There is that. And the player it is going on.

Do we actually gather any scouting information beyond West London?

Remember that Arteta will have given this his blessing. He's openly said that he doesn't see Nwaneri out wide.
