  • That has to go down as the most embarrassing result I’ve seen

As current league champions that has to be total humiliation for Arteta and the club.
Fleetwood FFS. The sheer mockery of them wearing that kit and calling the ground Highbury makes it all the more poignant.
The hapless frontline deficiencies laid bare, only to punctuate what we’ve known all along.
Another season scrabbling for goals and relying upon our defence and midfield to keep us in contention.

And the AWIMB Miserable F*cker of the year award goes to....

Calm down, 7s. It's the league cup, who gives a sh1t? We're champions and have lost one game all season in a competition we care about. Currently joint first in the league and undefeated in the CL.

I don't feel in the slightest bit embarassed or humiliated

I think you are both right. It is ****ing embarrassing but that is the only real consequence. I am very happy to be out of that competition.

And young Max will have learned something from last night. As good as he is, he is still 17. And a few people need to sit themselves down with the hype.

Have I seen bigger talents at this age? Not many.

Have I seen players of that age better prepared for senior football? Yes, plenty. We cannot be starting him regularly in the league. He isn't up to it.

We lost to a fourth tier side playing in our shirts, at a ground called Highbury. They even brought on a guy called Cannon.

It feels a bit like a band getting upstaged by their own tribute act.

For those who say it doesnt matter, winning. matters its breeds attitude and further success. Winning always matters, and the performance was a shambles.

It matters. But the consequences of this one particular result are actually quite beneficial. We are running out of players already in the forward areas (Madueke is injured by the way) and we cannot afford these pointless games on the schedule.

Our summer decisions are haunting us already. We left ourselves short in the forward areas and it is going to cost us.

To be honest..... I always felt this season would be a problem. Having won the league, and off the back of a long World Cup, i felt we would struggle. We havent done too badly so far but i fear rhe wheels are about to come off. Starting on Sunday.

I was embarassed/humiliated when we lost 8-2 at the Munichs. The 5-0 (or was it 6-0) at Chelsea was pretty bad. The pasting at Liverpool - not sure the final score but we conceded 5 I think - as well.

Last night I was mostly meh. I genuinely think we will be better on Sunday because of it. Not one sensible Arsenal supporter will give a toss about last night if we win on Sunday.

We will sign a striker and a left winger in Jan.

Bayern 10 - 2 Arsenal was embarrasing as well.

Agreed. Overall a good night for football. It contained all the elements of a classic cup upset.

And best of all, we do not care.

                    Well done, everyone.

Agree with that. I don’t much care for the beer cup but the manner of the exit at the hands of a lower 4th tier set up can’t be seen as anything other than a humiliation.
Havertz was in pure donkey mode, aside from the penalty and the Gyokeres goal was a terrible vignette for his finishing prowess at the club, quite what possessed the poor sod to frame it with his Batman mask pose, after looking like an octogenarian falling out of a car door was beyond me.
Anyhow, on to Anfield, where I shall be amazed if we come away with anything better than a hard fought draw.

Right. We're not entitled enough to demand our team win every game.

Wrexham still feels much worse even though the gulf in quality (on paper at least) was probably greater last night. That we have no real historical association with this trophy (bar a brief flirtation under GG) also helps. If that had been the real cup I'd be full on mortified.

Funnily enough, we can probably thank Arsene for cushioning the blow.

It was 6-0 at Chelsea, with a racist red card.

Liverpool was better, only 5-1. But we were 4-0 down after 20 minutes.

We were top of the league going into that game.......
