Arteta was livid. They would all have got a 'is nowhere ****ing near the standard, guys' afterwards.Originally posted by All Guns Blazing II View PostNever a red anyway.
They didnt turn up at Brighton, they didnt turn up tonight.
It can happen once. Now it has happened twice. And we have to go to Anfield on Sunday......
Certain people need to get their heads out of their arses. They know who they are (although one is injured).

Quite. Bad tackle that could have injured him badly. He tries to pull his leg out from between the hack's legs and the idiot ref interprets that as a kick. C*nt.Originally posted by All Guns Blazing II View PostNever a red anyway.
Still, like others I am not the slightest bit bovvered about going out.

Not sure I'd compare the two at all, Pedro. Brighton was away to a top 4/5 team in the league and we played the best 11 we had available. And we didn't compete.Originally posted by Peter View Post

Last night was a bit of a jolly that went wrong at the end. One too many lagers, maybe a Guiness at the end and possibly a whisky or two when you really didn't need them.
We'll recover and hopefully go to the Scouse with a bit more edge and anger in us.

Fair point. But I was far from convinced that the attitude was right last night. And was very disappointed with a few of them. It was a great chance for Zubimendi to show some quality and leadership. He showed neither. Still, if he is going to nick a living at least he had the decency to wear a mask.Originally posted by WES View Post

I am starting to wonder about Kai Havertz....

Agreed, the team we put out was easily good enough to win. But at the end of the day it's the league cup.Originally posted by Peter View Post

I have been worried about Havertz for some time. He's simply anonymous far too often for a player of his ability. Maybe he just isn't the false 9 or even the 9 we want him to be.
I wouldn't hesitate to start Gyok on Sunday.

Havertz has been here for 3 seasons now. I think you can split his time here into equal thirds- one third good, one third ****e, one third injured. So far this season he has stayed fit. But more often than not, he's been crap.Originally posted by WES View Post

It's coming up for two years since we've seen sustained decent performances from him. You have to wonder......

Said already that Kai is basically a white Kanu. Very gifted but simply not arsed often enough to be relied upon. We won the league with him missing for half a season so he's hardly indispensable. Arteta has got it into his head that he is somehow the lynchpin of this side. Hopefully last night finally disavowed him of that particular notion.Originally posted by WES View Post

Well, we dont have too many options in the forward areas. I hope it has at least convinced him that Havertz is useless anywhere other than as a 9Originally posted by All Guns Blazing II View Post

We'll win at Anfield. Liverpool 0 - 1 The Arsenal (Havertz '56)

Sadly, I'm starting to come to same conclusion as AGB, his biggest problem is that he just doesn't seem arsed enough too many times. The talent is clear, the end product is very much not.Originally posted by All Guns Blazing II View Post

Thing about Kai, the more important the game, the more likely he is to score.Originally posted by Peter View Post

He's done well in the league this season. cf the Chelsea equaliser. He just couldn't be arsed about the league cup. Likewise Bruno. He's won us two games with hammer edge-of-the-box finishes. That and the CL is why he's here. He's won the LC with the Geordies. He's not that arsed. Save it for the big games.Originally posted by Peter View Post
Problem with that is that when you are trying to win the league every game is important.
Would we rather we have a player who scores in CL finals or away at Fleetwood in the LC. {NB - we have both.}
