There is a bigger question for me. They didnt just cheat, they ruined football, along with Chelsea. They created a gigantic inflationary effect in the Premier league and totally transformed how football financing works, effectively divorcing it from on field success. They are the reason the rules exist. And they ignored them.

Aside from the other punishments, the owners should ne forced to sell the club. These offences are too serious for them to remain.

Not only did they blatantly cheat and have the financial impact you have described, they then lied about it and covered it up continually over many years. And when they were finally caught, they spent fortunes on the most expensive lawyers they could find to drag it out for years on end.

It was as cynical and as unethical as you could possibly be. The PL has no credibility unless they throw the book at them.

Right. They must be removed from the Premier League, if not football altogether.They've shown no remorse, they will never learn as they believe they've done nothing wrong.

That attitude is poison in football, in a rules-based society. The punishment has to send a clear and obvious, to borrow a phrase, message; the game is for everyone but if you're found guilty of systemic, systematic fraud, you have forfeited your right to play.

I told you, their sort doesn't believe in fairplay. To them, The Rules is just an absurd, unjust, naive handicap. An annoyance. They do not see what they've done as cheating; merely as standard, pragmatic corporate warfare to overcome unfair restrictions.

As someone who's just finished listening to The Master and Margarita on BBC Sounds {highly recommended - I read and loved the book c.5+ yrs ago} that is unfair on Russians.

Where's the Arabian Dostoyevsky? Pushkin? Prokofiev?

I know what you're trying to say but even on the political point, there are many Russians who would rather that Putin didn't rule as a Tsar. {Modelling of the election the other week suggests real support at c.36%.} Yet most of the Arabians are happy that their rulers behave like a European medieval monarch. They expect it.

I've been to Ukraine, I have a mate fighting there, we got over his daughter as a refugee, so I hold no card for Ivan. But at least the Enlightenment got to them for a bit under Peter and Catherine, and hence the C19th Romantic lit explosion that came afterwards. The camel-botherers? Nope.

This is why they've released the statement saying they'll still win. Cos they can't get their head around their wealth and power not meaning they always get a bye.

The Gyppos are different. Cos they used to build pyramids and worship cats while in Blighty we were living in trees saying "Ug" all the time. Maybe the Gyppos should invade and teach them how to build a pyramid and worship the Cat Goddess Bastet, Daughter of the Sun God Ra.

Took the family to Corsica over the summer and stayed in Porto-Veccio. Little boutique place we stayed in (8 rooms in total) and 2 were occupied by Russian families.

What an absolutely vile set of people they are. Rude to the staff who were absolutely fantastic, their kids were terrible with mine & they shunned any contact with anyone that wasn't Russian. Grim.

Right. They have proven themselves to be thoroughly untrustworthy. They cannot remain in the league.
