Well anything is better than the BBC Pat .. listening to that Geordie poor-wit Shearer blathering like an imbecile and Micah Richards loudly guffawing like a demented moose ( which he appears to be contractually obliged to do approximately once every 20 seconds) .

Where else can you get decent radio adaptations of 19th century literary classics in the English language?

My favourite Shearer moment was him announcing in Newcastle that despite all his success he was still a sheet metal worker's son from Newcastle.

Mostly because my first thought was along the lines of 'and you inherited a sheet metal worker's brain'.

He's boring because he's stupid, really really stupid.

Back in the day, they said he was the unlikely joker, prankster, of the squad. Which doesn't explain anything, of course.

            Unless it does.
"Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

"But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."
