"Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

"But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."

In this phase we're now in apparently. Random draw, home OR away, top eight (plus sundries) go through to the normal knock-out stages. Who knew.

      More corruption, I suppose.

I think you get a home and away from each of the four pots. So we are home to Bayern and away to Inter for pot one.

What you no longer get is any advantage from being seeded in the top pot. Everyone plays two matches against teams from all four pots.

Seems to be fairer to weaker teams but actually I think it is just a way of ensuring big names play each other in the group stage. And have a second shot of staying in if they **** up a bit in the group.

          Now you've lost me again.

And this is why we must win this thing soon, so I have a reason to learn the rules.

Oh, I don't think they are ever going to let us win it

But the money comes in handy.

All you need to know this evening is we are playing the Germans. Bloody Germans. Whatever you think of them, and who doesn't?
