  • Our new singings....

    Zubi has come in and made himself first choice DM. He plays if fit.

    Noni looked really good when he was playing at the start of the season. But the important/interesting bits are Vik and Easy.

    Vik took a while but was getting better and better - before his injury he was looking like the player we hoped we'd signed. 6 goals so far, much better than the other ones available. Etitike's also got 6, but one in the Charity Shield and one in the LC. Sesko's got 2 and Isak just one in the LC. But Vik was, and hopefully will keep getting better and better. Was making space for our other players and was just starting to get really involved in the build up.

    And Easy was making moments of magic but was playing as a LW once and then as Odin's inside right. But the Sperz game has really shown what he can do as a no.10. Having MnM up top really helps and I think that will also be true of having Kai there.

    It is, thank Ganpati, all starting to click. {Oh, and on the other 3 occasions a player scored a Hat-trick in the NLD, that team won a trophy that year. Ted Drake won the league in '34-5, some Sperzer won the Cup in '61-2, and Alan Sunderland, my fave player as a kid cos of his perm, also won the Cup in '78-9.}

    Triphop's looked great, and the Hinchappy cappie's look class as well in the little we've seen of him. Towering header to start the move for our 4th. And ftr, Norgie's looked fine, too. And having 2 Scandi players where the Norgy's not called Norgie, but the non-Norgy is will help confuse the opposition. "No, you were meant to be picking up the Norgie, not Norgie" etc.

    But we were waiting to see how Vik and Eze fitted in and I think we can be incredibly happy now. Just please, Lord, get them all fit and keep them fit and playing the best football of their careers so far.

    Amen to a' that!
    "Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

    "But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."

      Apart from two memorable exceptions, our record in the transfer market since Arteta has arrived has been excellent. The plan for an individual player hasn't always been obvious on arrival but he has consistently found them a role.

      Who else has signed full backs in the same weight division as Timber and Calafiori in recent years? It isn't as easy as we make it look.

        Sambi, that LB at the same time, Fabio didn't work. Zinny was useful to point the way to a new type of FB. Jeez looked the answer for half a season until some twunt decided to have WC in Dec and he got injured. Tomi would have been great if he wasn't perma-crocked. We loved Rambo, got us challenging but Daveed's better {the best.}

        Who were you thinking of?

          I was thinking of Willian and Sterling, both of whom were 'free'.

          With the others, they were not necessarily bad signings. Sambi and that left back were young, relatively inexpensive. They didn't work out but that happens. Fabio was probably the biggest error but even he looked a decent player for a while.

          All the others made significant contributions, even if we ended up moving beyond them. Given he had to effectively rebuild the entire squad, it is a pretty impressive record.

            Right. So I would really like Noni to do well here
