"Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.
"But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."

Until around day 3 of the first test when it becomes obvious that we have no chance of taking 20 wickets in any of the matches and the series is effectively dead.Originally posted by Rich View PostWelcome back. Will be Asheswimb soon enough anyway so we can forget about all the football stuff.
Then we can start discussing the plans for the next ashes tour.....

I listen to the Tailenders podcast feat. Sir James Anderson. Now I don't know if he has any inside info but he is going with a bowling attack in Perth of:Originally posted by Peter View PostUntil around day 3 of the first test when it becomes obvious that we have no chance of taking 20 wickets in any of the matches and the series is effectively dead.

Archer
Wood
Carse

Stokes
So... No spinner (other than Root / Jacks if he plays and bats 3). But 5 bowlers who can bowl at over 90mph (well over in some cases).
What I don't know is how that deck in Perth plays at the new ground. It's a drop-in I know that much.... but either way; their batting doesn't look all that so we have at least got the gas for the first time in about 20 years to do well out there.

We certainly have the 'wheels' this time. And without question, Archer on fire is unplayable and whatever the Aussies say, they are scared of him.Originally posted by Rich View PostI listen to the Tailenders podcast feat. Sir James Anderson. I think Atkinson has to play and could do well there. I'm not convinced about the others. I like Wood and Carse but they'll need to be a their best to make a contribution.
The spinners are likely to prove useless.
We can score heavily over there, no question. But wickets is key...
