I wonder how much more good faith remains in the tank for Arteta

The guy can hit a penalty. We know he can head a ball. It is a start.Originally posted by PSRB View PostHe's clearly not fully fit. Not making any firm judgement until Christmas on players or league position. Pires, Bergkamp and Henry all took a while to settle.
If we are going to leave him charging around up front while the ball is circulated around our back four then we are treating him as a footballing equivalent of Bez. Hardly his fault.
Anyway, I like Bez

Yep, plus the open play goal against Leeds was very nice. Played the ball into space and he did the rest.Originally posted by Peter View PostThe guy can hit a penalty. We know he can head a ball. It is a start.

I knew exactly what he was going to do there. He has scored that goal (or a variation on it) a dozen times in Portugal.Originally posted by PSRB View PostYep, plus the open play goal against Leeds was very nice. Played the ball into space and he did the rest.
He knows that once you get in the box you can run at people.

I really don't know why Martinelli didn't play him in against Liverpool. I'm sure he'd have had the beating of the defender.Originally posted by Peter View PostI knew exactly what he was going to do there. He has scored that goal (or a variation on it) a dozen times in Portugal.

I'm excited to see an Eze - Hincapie/Calafiori left side. I'm sure that we bought in this new fella because our choice of left winger is one who loves to come inside. There will be so much space on the overlap and Hincapie has a wand of a left foot to stick the ball in for Kai/Gyokeres.Originally posted by PSRB View PostI can't help but think he's so concentrated on tracking back and not exposing the left side that he's completely forgotten his primary job.

We've killed him. I am worrying we might have killed Odegaard as well.Originally posted by PSRB View PostI can't help but think he's so concentrated on tracking back and not exposing the left side that he's completely forgotten his primary job.
I hope Saka isn't next
he should be ok. Once we ruin his creative game he can always move back to left back.....

Odegaard will be fine. Martinelli never had a great deal of footballing acumen - he wouldn't have been playing in the Brazilian 4th tier if he did. But he's a decent enough finisher and fast in a straight line.Originally posted by Peter View PostWe've killed him. I am worrying we might have killed Odegaard as well.

People have worked out how to defend against him, though. Apparently a club was willing to go as far as 40m for him in the summer and we were willing to do business at 60m
I imagine he'll be sold in Jan/summer.

He'll go on loan and eventually leave for nothing.Originally posted by Rich View PostOdegaard will be fine. Martinelli never had a great deal of footballing acumen - he wouldn't have been playing in the Brazilian 4th tier if he did. But he's a decent enough finisher and fast in a straight line.

I can definitely see West Ham or Brentford making a move for him at ?40m. Think the days of ?60m have passed.Originally posted by Rich View PostOdegaard will be fine.
