Gone with Merino instead. If Eze had been for 3 weeks it would be him.

Ethan just isn't ready for this role yet. Not at this level.

Not sure Merino is either. Safer option. I suppose. I can?t see why Eze doesn?t start though. He?s been in great form for Palace and must be as fit as a butchers dog. Perhaps a last roll of the dice for Martinelli ?

Eze has only spent a few day with the team.he was never going to start.

I'm concerned about Calafiori up against Salah.

And yes, Merino is a bit of a negative move. Not sure what it is telling us..... other than that he doesn't trust Nwaneri yet.

Chris Kavanagh.... I guess none of the above really matters this guy is an A grade prick.

Kai would've started too, I suppose.
"Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

"But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."

At least they've replaced the VAR chap. He was the one at the Bridge yesterday

It's away at Anfield. Of course he's going to go with the most defensive secure formation he can at the start. It's like GG starting with a back 5 in '89, and MA doesn't need to win by two clear goals today.

If Ethan's still learning how to lead the press, when to drop deep etc, there are easier games for that. I also think not only is MnM a sensible choice - international, played with Zubi for yonks - but he gives us some of MA's beloved "unpredictability."

LFC haven't seen how he plays in a 3 man MF with a double pivot behind him. {Or perhaps in a 3 man MF with everyone interchanging.} MA's been working on it in training all week.

We also know he plays lovely edge of the box passes and can score arriving late. A different type of threat to Ethan. One the Scousers will know less about.

I wondered what his plans for MnM were this season. Now we know, at least partially.

The fact that Ethan, not MnM, came on for Odin at home last weeks shows both will play a role.

All perfectly sensible. I'm just saying, I was right about him not trusting Ethan

And I have concerns about Merino playing there.....

It looks like Arteta isn?t entirely trusting of Skelly in this type of fixture. He?s a bit more if a red card liability than Calafiori. It would be nice to see what our Italian is capable of from a run of games off of the treatment table.

His lack of pace against Salah worries me.

They're still very young players, seniority and experience must still be a thing in football.

Would have been perfect for Kai. Free floating no.10 with world class double pivot behind and and a pwoppa nine up front.

Due to Jeez being out at the same time as Odin last year, we've never seen this tried as yet.

And I'm just saying you're right about not trusting Ethan starting away at Anfield at the start of the season when we already have B, Kai and Benny out as well as Odin.

I honestly think this summer has been about 2 things. Covering injuries to our best players which cost us last year. And having an attacking option from the bench he trusts other than just Leo.

Keep it tight for 75' then go for the win. GG would approve. We do have a very good back 5. And we now have a Swede and a black Londoner with the best of attitudes from the Eagles added to our forward line. B combines the best of Merse, Kev and Rocky.

GG never went for Brazilian flair. Which is ironic as Gabby does the best defensive work of our front 3.

And tbf Cala, along with Noni, has been as good as anyone in the first half.

When we signed him my Juve mate said he was a great buy, just sadly Juve couldn't afford 40 mil on a defender. Predicted great things for him with us.

We only take risks in our own box
