  • Sounds as though the injuries are not too bad

Saka will be out for 'a few weeks' and Odegaard is likely to miss Anfield.

Even Havertz and his surgery doesn't sound awful.

Annoying timing, but could have been a lot worse for all three.

I'd argue the timing is pretty good with the international break right here. Also now we have players I almost don't care.

Is this what City, Liverpool and Chelsea fans feel about injuries? A case of 'ah well... just bring XX in'

Not when it is Rodri or Haaland, Salah or Van Dyk, or..... cant think of anyone for Chelsea

By timing I meant Anfield without Saka, Odegaard and Havertz. But the international break is a fair point.

        Palmer, probably the only one.

Whatever happened to that Myles Palmer from Arsenal News Review?

I gave up on him when he said that what he really liked about Jack Wilshere was that he had a name that sounded like a Spitfire pilot.

              2-3 months for Havertz apparently

He'll be like a new signing when he comes back, then. As will Jeez when he's resurrected. That's our January window sorted - a striker who can play as a 10, and a striker who can play on both wings.

But if we want to rest Vik - either being subbed when the game is won or playing in the Milk Cup, who do we play as a CF? Leo? I would like to see Gabby given a chance. I know last year we played Leo in the middle because he's a great first time striker of the ball in the box, but I do think Gabby's pace and aerial ability could come in useful.

I remember that first header he scored for us. A bullet. We suddenly realised we'd got a bargain for 6 mil. And the finish in the Bernebeu was stunning.

When Yakob played as LB the season before, he couldn't do the inversion so we got BW to do that on the right and Yakob played like an old skool overlapping FB of the type Ars?ne used to love. And Gabby looked much better. There was one goal where he was on the edge of the box and played it for Yakob on the overlap. In the box, near the line, he played a perfect, no look, first time diagonal cut back to Gabby who rifled it home.

I was hoping last season that having Cala as an overlapping as well as inverting LB, with his great ability to drive forward with the ball, and MnM playing L8 with his ability to play beautiful through balls on the edge of the box, as well as arriving late to finish, would allow us to get Gabby back to his best but injuries got in the way.

You have to think Martinelli will be given a go. He now has so many rivals for the left wing slot.

Dunno. Do we know just why he hasn't really been given a go. Too good at football perhaps.
"Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

"But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."

Best tracking backers of the wingers? Remember when Leo got sent off vs City, MA took B off but left Gabby on. He really likes that. Another reason why he prefers to start with Gabby and bring Leo on. Less likely to concede.

But if he was tried up front, he has pace, aerial ability and can interchange with the wingers.

                        Yes, I agree.

Ideally what you want is him hugging the touchline as and when necessary, yet always ready to cut in and score, anyway get involved in the box; what the Brazilians call the Machete. Best of both worlds. Just because he's not actually playing centre forward, doesn't mean that he can't score. And, of course, we have centre forwards now.

Shoring up the left side will help us get more out of him, free him a bit. More end product, as they say.
