With add ons it's between 25-27m euros plus there's a sell on clause and a 2m loan fee

That is still ****. He is easily worth 25 plus, sterling (not Raheem!). Plus add ons!

No way. Less than we paid for him?

If we were buying a 25 yr old CH who had proven himself in the PL and had beaten RM home and away when the only goal we conceded was a Big Willy error and played PSG without making a mistake we'd pay a hell of a lot more than that.

He deserves a move to play week in, week out. He's given his all to us and I get he doesn't want to be 3rd choice at both LCH and LB. But 15 mil quid when we sold the likes of Balogun and Willock for me? Come on.

I like us being a respected buying club so we get Zubi and Eze without a problem. But we have to be better at selling.

All these Portugeezers must think we're mugs.

PS how much did we pay for Mustafi, for example?

What is surprising is the lack of interest in the Premier League. Nobody fancied him at 20-25 million? Nobody??? Weird...

Same with Tierney. All due respect to Celtic but that lad is FAR too good to be playing in Scotland. Yet not a sniff from England...

KT it could be the injuries. Also, I think he thought that if it wasn't Arsenal, he'd rather be back home.

If Palace do sell Guelhi, they could do a lot worse than Yakob as a replacement.

I do wonder if he's happy with his spell in the EPL. 2.5 seasons, came second every time and played well in CL quarters and semi. No other EPL team could offer him that, so go somewhere nice. And somewhere where his ball playing abilities would be better appreciated.

But that is far, far too cheap. You think a club on the continent would sell him to us for that price?

There is something about him..... I noticed it a few times. You know the way big Per had this habit of magically appearing beneath any ball in the box? Kiwior doesn't have that. Sometimes he can look a little lost, a little hesitant.

The only joy Gyokeres got against us when he played us in the CL was when he outmuscled Kiwior late on. He got nothing against the other guys.

So, as good as he is, he isn't dominant. Doesn't have the personality or aggression of a Gabriel or the sheer groove and grace of a Saliba.

Nketiah for 30mil was pretty good business. And I notice ESR is struggling to get in the Fulham side, didn't we get 25mil+ for him?

                  Calm down, Pedro.

And on a related topic, can anyone think of a player we sold for a modest amount that became anything other than very average?

Good example. It could have been 50 quid and they would still have seen us coming.

Most important thing about any signing is whether they are any good. If they are, it really doesn't matter what you paid for them.

United paid a gigantic fee for Rio Ferdinand, bordering on ridiculous. But when you look at what he gave them over nearly a decade, he was an absolute steal......

I did think we might regret selling ESR....did enjoy his goal against United.

                      RvP?

I was thinking more a younger players. RVP was almost 30 when we sold him and we had no choice, reasonable money for a player of that age as well.

It seems most times we sell a young player there is hand wringing about how much we got and how good they might become but we seem to get these decisions right.

Look at Peter's list. Nelson, Nketiah and ESR will never be anything more than average, the three that stayed are all stars or going to be, possible exception of Nwaneri which is still a bit of an open question.

                          Gnabry.
Xhaka was a very modest fee which Leverkusen just recouped for him when he was two years older
                          Leno for 5 million

Going back a bit, we got ****ed over on Fabregas.
We sold Vieira for 13 million.........

You are right on Nketiah and ESR (although I still think he is a fine player). Very good fee for Balogun.

But you have to compare us to what other clubs 'appear' to get for their average players. We are either a bit **** or a bit too honest. Where are the ludicrous Saudi bids for our rubbish?

I still think if ESR can stay fit, he'll end up at a bigger club. By a distance the best of the 3 players you mentioned.

                            Cashley?

We got a good price for RVP given the circumstances. And Adebayor, and Nasri. We did quite well out of City for a while......

And sometimes the situation ****s you. One of the best decisions we made (and I am SURE you will agree) was withdrawing that gigantic contract for Ramsey and letting him leave for nothing. Brave, but saved us a fortune.
