Martinelli, if you can think all the way back to May of this year, was one of our best players against the best team in Europe, he tore Hakim apart. We can very much go into the season with what we have now on the left. If you offered me Rodrygo instead of Trossard I would be very happy with that.
I am relaibly informed that Trossard has one foot out of the door already. My point is that if he does go then we will need another body in there.

We all know that we will have an injury crisis at some stage. We will need options when that happens.

To be fair, last season (off the back of a long major summer tournament) was the first season where we have had an injury 'crisis' for a fair while. The two or three seasons before that we managed to keep the vast majority of our key players fit all season.

Maybe so. But if we want to compete on all fronts then we have to be prepared for the worst. Look at the rest of the top 4 and beyond - they all have significantly more depth than us (perhaps with the exception of defence).

Our weakness is we don't score enough or posses the individual quality to create something from nothing / get through low blocks often enough. So to me it is clear that additional investment is required there.

Should be possible too as Vieria, Nelson, Lokonga, Zinchenko, Trossard & arguably Kiwior can all be sold.

I don't think the top four and beyond have more depth. More players, maybe. Bit there is a difference between depth and strength in depth.

Those weaknesses you point to were only weaknesses last season. Not the seasons before. It isn't a lack of quality, imo. It is our overly structured and rather conservative approach to games.

I think at least two of these signings are designed to change that. And Zubimendi will help us do the most important thing of all- keep the ball.

Until he picks up a hamstring strain in match week 2 against Newcastle.

We need at least one more creative forward player, P. Even Saka is very predictable (not that you can stop him doing what we all know he's going to do). I am very sure we'll get one too.... the number 10 shirt is waiting for someone....

If it's against the barcodes it will be 6 league games in before he gets knacked.
