Yes, they're all very nice indeed. No excusesOriginally posted by John Bunnell View Postis LOVELYYY. This is the first season in a while all three kits are ace.

lol. Probably all of them, to be honest.
Unless we're actually keeping that number 10 shirt available for Zico; there's still a few weeks of the transfer window left so you never know .."Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

Well, individuals on X have attempted to convince me that our entire transfer strategy this window has been designed to get rid of Odegaard, who is apparently our biggest weakness and the worst 'creative 10' in Europe. It is all about expected assists, apparently.Originally posted by redgunamo View Post

So if that is true, we have work to do.... and Eze is apparently the second coming of Zico, so we should be ok

Good Lord.
Though, actually that's my point; we don't really want the Odegaard we have at the moment. We bought Viktor so we can have the one that is really the BEST creative 10 in Europe back again. No real need for Zico (too old), and no real need for Eze either (he's not Zico).
Quite frankly, if there's no more centre backs we can throw the money at, we're buggered, in any case

We don't want the Odegaard we had last season. We want the real one back, and if that means having to field an actual striker, then I will just have to reluctantly accept that. Although I think the Spanish lad in midfield will be the key here. Getting the captain in the right spaces, at the right time, with runners. That is a midfield maestro's job. If you cant trust a Spanish lad to do that, what is the world coming to?Originally posted by redgunamo View Post

And of course we have Declan Rice and his 'good engine' as well

A converted centre-half is our most expensive player ever. What is the world coming to indeed.
That's the worst thing about our new striker; he ought to have cost at least twice as much so we could wipe that stain on our history out of the record books forever.
And we mustn't knock a good engine. Running About Football is infinitely better than Standing Still Waiting For The Ball Football. I fear our new Spanish Parking Meter may simply be too small to be of any real use, in the short term. Maybe he's good at taking corners

Zubi's really good at getting the ball in tight spaces just outside his box, turning on a sixpence and bursting through lines, by all accounts. As is MLS. With him inverting next to Zubi, it could give us some real counter-attacking options.Originally posted by redgunamo View Post

Also wonder what will happen to MnM. We didn't really get to see him in CM last year, but he looked useful. Also, those goals he scored as a striker were generally the goals a MFer scores. Arriving late in the box like Freddie used to. Look at that goal he scored from the edge of the area in pre-season a week or two ago. He gives us a real option.
2 summers ago, we got rid of GX, and at the start of the season, we were playing Dec and Kai in MF. Last year it seemed the idea was for Dec and MnM. Now Wigwam's gone and we've bought Zubi, it seems he'll play with Dec and Odin.
Hopefully with MLS at LB, and Dec at inside left, Gabi will have a settled left side for the first time since GX left and they can all work together to make the left side up there with Ben, B and Odin at their best.
Also, Vik apparently drifts left like Titi used to. With him, Gabby and Dec and/or MLS, we might be able to get overloads that sets one of them free.

I'm not knocking a good engine. But it is useless without a good gearbox. Someone has to ve in charge of gear changes.Originally posted by redgunamo View Post

We have to be better with the ball this season. We are already fine without it. You got your striker, I got my small Spanish bloke. So if this doesn't work we were both wrong....

I wanted both. But if one of Dec or Zubi was {God forbid} injured, or rested or subbed, the other can play DM and we could play Kai at left 8 to go more attacking or MnM to win duels and also arrive late in the box to score. I think that was the original plan with both. But now we've seen what Dec can do there, he's made the place his own and Ganpati willing, he'll get the best out of Gabi and Leo on the wing, especially with Vik dropping out to the left. I really hope we get Titi-Bobby-Cashley levels on the left to go with a better than ever B-Odin-BW on the right.

Yes. If the primary purpose is to be able to better control the middle and get Odegaard in the right spaces, the secondary purpose must be trying to get the best out of Martinelli and our left flank. The endless focus on the right flank makes us predictable and easy (easier) to defend against.Originally posted by Ganpati's Goonerz--AFC's Aboriginal Fertility Cult View Post,

True. Would make it harder for them to double up on the right.Originally posted by Peter View PostYes.
