I'm not convinced it makes that much difference. We clearly prefer chasing, are obviously not intimidated by scoreboard pressure, and the pitches are not deteriorating.Originally posted by PSRB View PostStill should have batted on both occasions.
My feeling is that Bazball has done wonders for our batting. It hasn't really led to any clear strategies with our fielding as yet. Similar thing happened when we transformed our approach to the white ball game. The bowling part of it took far longer to improve.

Pitch was flat as anything, you win the toss and you bat, unless extreme overhead conditions. Old school.Originally posted by Peter View PostI'm not convinced it makes that much difference. I completely agree with you. I get that we now think about the game differently, and are not intimidated by scoreboard pressure. But your opponents are. Bat and score 500 and they will think they can't win the game.Originally posted by PSRB View PostPitch was flat as anything, you win the toss and you bat, unless extreme overhead conditions. It's certainly entertaining, just think we make it far harder than it should be.Originally posted by Peter View PostI completely agree with you. I think the dogma overtakes the pragmatism. The funny thing is that it makes you predictable. The toss is a waste of time. If we win it we bowl, if they win it they bat.Originally posted by PSRB View PostIt's certainly entertaining, just think we make it far harder than it should be.
Look at the way we are batting at the moment. Smith has destroyed the bowling attack by swiping the short ball to all corners. Wonderful. But doing that on Australian pitches against Cummins or Hazlewood is a very different prospect. That is where judgement and adapting to conditions is required. And that isn't our strong suit.
