If the Brentford player had made a meal of it, var would have had a bit of a problem. Because it is clearly violent conduct, albeit pathetic.

I think Manchester United's dwarf centre-half got away with a punch earlier too.
"Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

"But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."

Brentford have been pretty poor. Two soft goals, too many basic errors.

It's tricky when the Ref, Lino and VAR are determined to tip it City's way at every opportunity.

To be fair, I thought all those calls were right apart from Silva. He got away with that, although it would probably have been a pretty soft red.

                I didn't watch, obv.

But I still haven't got over that AM **** stamping deliberately on Ricky C's wrist. That should have been a red. Thank Ganpati we went through, what with the pen overturned in the first leg.

That was weird. He barely reacted. Didn't even seem angry. And the crowd didn't screaming about it either.

I don't get football any more. That was a deliberate attempt to hurt. That's far worse than a late challenge where the studs cme dwn the shin or ankle. Yet the latter can et a red, the former not.

Is it because, as with that other incident, the ball was out of play? Does that make a difference to violent conduct?

No, it doesn't make a difference. Violent conduct is violent conduct regardless of where play is.

If they believe that he treads on the arm deliberately, it is a red card. I guess they just ignored it, or felt it was accidental.

Silva lashes out at that defender. It is 100% violent conduct. But i guess they felt it was a bit silly and let it go.
