    "They do their processes in the first phase so well, they are so comfortable and they have very good players as well."

    Now having good players, I get. But the first part is all double Dutch to me, and I don't mean Bergy and Overmars.

    What are processes in the first phase FFS?

    It took me ages to realise that "low block" is just a hipster way of saying "park the bus."

    Low block used to be called backs to the wall. But that was considered homophonic...

      No way. No ****ing way. What about Haig's Special Order of the Day on 11 April 1918, after the German Spring Offensive had obliterated Gough's 5th army where the BEF joined the French. If they'd broken through, we'd have retreated to protect the Channel Ports and the Frogs to protect Paris. As Haig said, the Frogs were on their way as quickly as humanly possible but until then, we'd have to fight it out because if the armies had been split der krieg would have been veloren.

      ‘There is no other course open to us but to fight it out. Every position must be held to the last man: there must be no retirement. With our backs to the wall and believing in the justice of our cause each one of us must fight on to the end. The safety of our homes and the freedom of mankind alike depend upon the conduct of each one of us at this critical moment’.

      What next? Calling Lizzie the First a racist for suggesting Europeans don't have the hearts and stomachs of Englishmen {and women, specifically her?}

      If the BEF hadn't obeyed Haig and fought on at that point with our backs to the wall, we'd all be speaking German. {Nttawwi - if you're an Arsenal 10, CH or GK.}
