You seen the lip reading of Saliba? He?s not happy with the general ability of Gyokeres.Originally posted by redgunamo View Postproper laces
Nor am I (and I don?t think young Bukayo is either). It?s honestly painful watching him.
I could personally see it before we signed him but I think he?s appalling. Sold in summer definitely.

I don't think he is that bad. But, like you, I didn't want him and so I am going to give him some time.Originally posted by Rich View PostYou seen the lip reading of Saliba? He?s not happy with the general ability of Gyokeres.

I think it is probably fair to say that he is our fourth best centre forward, behind Havertz, jesus and Merino. And that is only because we refuse to use Martinelli there.
One thing that definitely will NOT happen is us selling him. Nobody is going to touch him, especially on those wages.

Francesco Totti was talking one time about how much he loved Gervinho. Could he score more goals? Yes, he said, but then he would be Cristiano Ronaldo and Roma wouldn't be able to afford him and he wouldn't play for usOriginally posted by Peter View PostI don't think he is that bad. Exactly the point I made about Jesus (our one). If his finishing was better he'd still be at City.Originally posted by redgunamo View PostFrancesco Totti was talking one time about how much he loved Gervinho. Could he score more goals? He's just too damn feckin' slow. I find it painful to watch. I think he has lost every chase I've seen him involved in. I used to get dragged along to lower division matches a lot by a pal who's now sadly passed and down in the third tier 'everyone' is too slow and it was one of the things I hated the most. Pace is such a powerful weapon that any player with it ain't gonna be noodling around in the lower reaches. In this modern era of readily available stats on every player, how the feck did we get tricked into shelling out for him?

It?s a fair point but on the flip side, Kane?s not a whippet either. Whatever his strengths are, we?re not playing to them. He was prolific in Portugal under Amorim and although it may be perceived as a farmers league, he still put away > 30 a season.Originally posted by Herbert Augustus Chapman View PostHe's just too damn feckin' slow. I?m guessing Berta forced this one through, it seemed an ok punt at the time but the price tag & 200k a week doesn?t look good value at this stage, especially if the club do want to move him on.

I hate to sound like a broken record but just look at his goals in Portugal. The vast majority are with him operating in acres of space. At Arsenal you must be technical in tight spaces given the opposition we face - that is arguably his biggest weakness.Originally posted by 7sisters View PostIt?s a fair point but on the flip side, Kane?s not a whippet either. He did well for Coverntry in the Championship where he used his size to bully defenders. The problem is that he doesn't have a technique to speak of when using his size so against PL defenders; he ends up losing his balance and falling over.

Leo looked ok when he played up top for a bit in Jeez' first season.Originally posted by Peter View PostI don't think he is that bad. But, like you, I didn't want him and so I am going to give him some time.

Inclined to agree, although you can?t really hammer a player in their first season of adjustment. A lot will depend on the form of Havertz when he returns. Most felt he wasn?t a number 9 either, which is why Arteta went shopping, so he may end up rotating the two until the summer provides the club with new options. I don?t see Jesus getting more than a few appearances. No club can?t afford bit players hanging around on ?260k a week.Originally posted by Rich View PostI hate to sound like a broken record but just look at his goals in Portugal. It's a fair point. Look at Calafiori this season compared to last. He's gone up several gears.Originally posted by 7sisters View PostInclined to agree, although you can?t really hammer a player in their first season of adjustment. Gyokeres is never going to be a great player but he may prove to be of use. I'm not hoping for much more than that.
Centre forward in a side like this is not an easy job. You have to do an awful lot of chasing and waiting.

He did, although slightly different version of tje role. I think Arteta wants presence there now. So Merino would get the nod ahead of Leo.Originally posted by Ganpati's Goonerz--AFC's Aboriginal Fertility Cult View PostLeo looked ok when he played up top for a bit in Jeez' first season.

Now we must apply that thinking to the rest of our set-up and stop wondering why we are not quite the world's best team yetOriginally posted by Peter View PostExactly the point I made about Jesus (our one). If his finishing was better he'd still be at City.
