Worst signing was Silvestre surely absolutely pointless

It does make you wonder about footballers. I know that ultimately it's a career and things like Wrighty taking a pay cut to join us are rare, but the same time Alexis left, we have 350k pw to Ozil, so he'd have been well paid to stay with us.Originally posted by John Bunnell View PostAgent Alexis Sanchez went there and stank the place out as revenge for the United dross they sent our way.
Cos apparently after his first day at ManU he asked his agent if he could go back to Arsenal. Maybe his agent sold him the move to get his cut? The team had evolved around Alexis and Ozil - there was that game when those two and Santi ripped ManU appart to be 3-0 up after 20-odd mins. Why risk that for ManU?
We seem to have done rather well recently in buying players who are up for us. Even when we were winning everything, Paddy and Titi were having their heads' turned, but Big Gabby just keeps signing new deals a year early instead of increasing his leverage and Willy just totally ignored Franco's mob. Just need B and Odin to sign new deals soon.
I like to think they believe in each other and what MA's doing. And they know that there aren't any other teams that guarantee they could do better than us. We now have a squad that can deal with injuries to the stars and they're all happy that there's gonna be rotation.
Leo's now happy that he won't start every week and seems to be back to his best. {We forget that he scored 17 mostly from the wing the year before last, like Anders and Marcy in title winning seasons. Being able to chop and change and give people rests for a few games will make such a difference, Ganpati willing. MLS looks great every time he plays.
But if we're chasing a winner against a parked bus, I do want us to try Gabby at LB and Eze at LW but moving inside to have Gabby hugging the touchline and on the overlap.

I heard that about Alexis. From my understanding he saw the training methods at United were a joke and the facilities are falling apart. Which Cristiano also picked up on this during his 2nd stint at United.
Begs the question how such a wealthy, once well oiled machine as United turned out this way. Long may it continue.

But as to the question you begged, if the owners buys a club, then loads the entire purchase price onto the club's debt so he ends up getting it for free and then keeps taking even more money out, you generally stop being the richest club in the league.
Why didn't we all club together and do it? Got Awimb to bid more than the Glazers and load on the debt at even higher rates of interest. Pay the loans off, take massive dividends and then get them relegated all the way down to the Conference.
We'd be millionaires.
