I quite agree... But it's the optics of it, isn't it? After a disasterous Ashes tour were involved in fighting bouncers, getting lost drunk and telling the public that they're irrelevant humans, having a tear up in Noosa etc etc.

Now after the first test match 'reset' this happens. Especially as it happened after the curfew that was agreed to by all.

Hopefully a couple of tests out of the limelight and both will be back in the squad for the Pakistan series later in the summer.

Still don't think the punishment fits the crime. Although, I do suspect Archer would have come in for Atkinson anyway.

Assume Archer for Atkinson and we'll need to bring in Baker or Fisher for Stokes to act as the 4th seamer.

The only other option (which I would favour) is dropping Bashir given that he wouldn't have bowled much anyway and bringing Baker in for him and then Rew for Stokes.
