Saka is so unbelievably overrated it's untrue, I dunno why us Gooners **** him off like this. One trick pony - Ljungberg was a much more versatile player. Could ping a killer pass and had a far quicker brain when it came to making decisive decisions.

Saka is good but please can we calm down.
No. Van Nistelrooy won the PFA award. Pires won the football writers' award. Those are the two prestigious awards. Freddie won some award I've never even heard of.

The PFA, the football writers and our own supporters thought Freddie wasnt even the best player at Arsenal. Which, of course, he wasnt. Not even close.

And it wouldn't matter if he'd won fhe Ballon D'or , Saka is still better than him.

The problem here isnt Freddie. It is that you dont rate Saka. Up to you, obviously

Agree on Saka. He's developing all the time, now can go on the outside or the inside, scores goals (not as many as he should) but he's had a few injuries and he's missed his pal White at RB. Also learning to adapt to Gyokeres and much like Martinelli, he's still very young.

Martinelli isn't going anywhere, you can tell MA really likes him.

So do I. Last player I saw make a pass like that with the outside of his right boot was Merse.

Ahem..... Dennis. At Chelsea. Brilliant ball to Vieira.

Gets lost under the weight of a hundred brilliant passes. That man was just a genius.....

We dont have another player like Martinelli. You get the feeling that he has another level in there and if he finds it he will be unstoppable.

It's literally the award given out by the actual Premier League association? If you've never heard of it that's on you. Regardless, until Saka starts winning some trophies (the big ones) for us he's not fit to lace Freddy's boots. If we win stuff this season I won't credit Saka for much of it because truth be told he's been pony this season. He was pretty good against Inter mind.

I think he just needs to be a bit nastier....like when he shoved Bradley off the pitch Perhaps also lacking a bit in belief, which he shouldn't.

As opposed to the longstanding awards voted for by the players or the football writers?

Do you know why Freddie won that award and not the other two? Because the other two are voted for before the season ends. Freddie's award was based heavily on an astonishing run of form late in the season. Great- but hardly an accurate reflection of his career. Or of that season as a whole.

I find fault with the trophy argument. That is confusing an individual's quality with the quality of the team they played in. It would mean Kevin Richardson was better than Cesc Fabregas.

Saka has a lot of football ahead of him, and if we are going to win anything this season it will be because he rediscovered his form. I'm not convnced we can do it without him.

I think you have your rose tinted glasses on over Ljunberg. He was a great player but Saka?s overall contribution is far higher and at a much younger stage in his development.
The frustrating side of Ljungberg were those head down runs along the left channel that invariably led to him running into a cul de sac and getting dispossessed. Saka, at least, can provide a cross from the tightest of spaces, often with two defenders bearing down on him. Ljungberg just ran out of options too often; although, he worked the space better and was always there to stab it home.
We?re probably missing a player like him around the box these days.
