    Terrific start to the match.

Lively, brisk play on both sides
"Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

"But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."

In the PL VAR would have ignored both of those

    Pathetic

Was thinking exactly the same. No way var in England gives the first one,. And I'd be amazed if they overturned the second.

Whilst I was extremely pleased it was overturned, it patently wasn't a 'clear and obvious' error if it takes five minutes to come to a decision.

Right. The thinking, such as it is, seems to be that the error only becomes clear and obvious once you have studied it for five minutes

The language is troubling. They tend to interpet 'clear and obvious' as factual. So if there is any contact at all, they wont overturn.

Everyone can see immediately that it isn't a penalty. Surely that is clear and obvious enough?

I always like to say, with not a little justification, that "The Game is more important than its laws". Whether football itself will ultimately prove to be more important than this insistence on broadening and widening the use of VAR is sadly not so clear and obvious, to pinch a phrase.
