I've made it to 67 now though dodgy moment four years ago, three months in hospital followed by nine hours on the operating table. Endocarditis after an inconsequential cut to my leg while gardening, bacteria grew to a 2cm ball on my heart valve. Now have a carbon valve and a pile of meds to take every day. Otherwise fairly fit and healthy!
That?s a bit of a scare, PJ. Someone on the box recently referred to the decade between 60 & 70 as snipers alley. Seemed quite appropriate.

One minute you?re in the thick of the engine room, so to speak and then, before you know it you?re getting ushered towards the waiting room.
During a hospital visit a couple of years back, I witnessed a couple of confused elderly gents stumbling around the ward in large nappies.
I mean, is this really how it ends, SC

A mere stripling of 53 (feels like 80)

Genuinely thinking about retirement. Selling up property in the UK and just living off the profit in some cheap Asian island somewhere

Ionic moulding. Egg = life. Dart = death. Appropriate for this thread!

Sir C is right in his recollection about the chap's name. Maybe he was a plasterer?
