    I reckon that's what's wrong with da yoof of today.

    If they could just bosh Es and randomly hug the stranger next to them as they come up on a rush, they wouldn't be so fecking stressed out and prissy.

    {Or be 60's hippies on LSD, or '70k punks on glue, whizz or smack. Anything. Just get a soddin' culture and experience your fellow flesh and blood instead of a phone screen.}
    My 23 year old nephew went out with his mates from Uni in Central London the other week. They all had two drinks and then went for something to eat.

    What the hell is wrong with these people?

    Presumably after the gym. Blame the parents
    "Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

    "But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."

    I know. When I was doing my MA in Canterbury about 6/7 years ago, I met one guy {a mature student from a different history MA} I'd drink with all afternoon after my tutorial cos he was living back on campus.

    One evening, there was a group of lads, chanting songs with one forced to drink booze from a shoe.

    We asked the barman and he said it was the hockey team having their induction or whatever.

    Thing is, they started at 7pm and ended at 9 on the dot. "That was our two hours of fun for the week and we aren't allowed one second more."

    My halls of residence bar in my first year {of first degree} was rammed at closing time. But it was, in '89-'90, 79p a pint - supposedly cheapest in London. The uni bar itself {The Three Tuns} was 4p a pint more.

    All day drinking definitely requires a late afternoon nap for a couple of hours these days. Otherwise the night is done.

    I’ve quit completely. Well, one small glass of red with dinner. But that’s it.

    I’m sure I’m supposed to feel energised and invigorated. I’m mainly just miserable.

    Sadly, I've come to master the art of having only 1-2 drinks and then stopping. One beer with dinner last night and will have one glass of red with dinner tonight.

    There was a time when 1-2 drinnks simply wasn't an option. Then I got

    I can stop at 3 or 4, but it is far harder to do so when the people you are with drink 3 or 4 an hour.

    I can't do it anymore. In the old days, I could drink Spesh for breakfast or have a drink with lunch. But now, once I start drinking, if I stop I get drowsy and fall asleep. So for the last X years, I don't drink until pm cos I then have to keep drinking until I sleep.
