The daughter's an utter fraggle who we first met in San Fran where she was living with acid dealers and a sound system. She came back to London and after a few years of the teknival scene she's now become a very high-powered corporate lawyer.

Go to Kozhikode Beach. About 2 clicks from the centre of town, lots of nice seafood.

After the post-Castlemorton clampdown and the Criminal Justice Bill, loads of crusty travellers stayed in Blighty and got smack {and some also got crack} habits. But those of us who went to Europe creating the Teknival scene were all doing K.

PS if you do go to the beach, post a photo. Oh, and find out how much they're charging for lobsters now.

About 20 years ago in Anjuna/Chapora in Goa {the two cheapest beaches} we could get lobsters for a fiver each. I'd order the day before {cos it would mostly be off season when I was there} and give them a bottle of Chablis I'd brought out so they could put it in the fridge for me, and arrange to come at 7pm the next day.

But when a decade ago I asked my goan mate with a restaurant, Jaocinto, how much it would cost for a lobster, they were saying £30 or more. {When he sold great seafood like calamari, pomfret or king fish, in lemon butter or garlic sauce with chips for around £2.50-£3.50}

See whether Calicut off season is even better.

Last time I was in Kerala, at Kovalam beach {and Varkala beach} normal prawns were £6 and giant ones were a tenner a plate but were sublime.

If you're gonna seafood it up on your day off, get a bottle of French white at duty free on the way out, and when you find a restaurant with seafood you want, get them to chill the bottle while you enjoy the beach for a couple of hours.

If they do fish or crab soup, get a bowl as a starter.

Though be aware that it'll probably be monsooning while you're there. But it's lush swimming in the warm Indian ocean when it's monsooning.
