The way I see it, the way the wall was set up for the 2nd and our players smartly moved away effectively gave Rice a open goal to smash it in. The execution and power of it is tremendous so obviously still brilliant.
The 1st the way he curled it actually AROUND the wall, not up and over the wall is just insane. No keeper will ever save that because the view is obstructed by the wall and by the time the keeper sees the ball it's in the back of the net. The curve on it was phenomenal and he hit it with some ooph as well.
This is the essential difference between the two. The first one went round the wall, the second went to the goalkeeper's side.
I think you can make an argument for either of them being better. The precision required for the first one is to make it around the wall and inside the post, with pace. For the second, it is about getting it right into the very corner, from wide, and at pace.
I've seen people saying the walls were wrong. I don't buy it at all.
We well, All moaning when he got moved to Centre forward, especially after we didn't buy anyone in January and then Kai got injured. But since he moved there, it's six in ten in both comps {with only a bit of the second half in the first.}
I think no one expecting much has taken off the pressure, coupled with the confidence he's got from actually scoring. And hopefully, if he plays inside left neck season, he'll know he can score. Could hopefully get quite a few arriving late in the box like Freddie did.
That goal was beautiful. I thought it was only Leo in our team who could finish a moving ball first time like that.
Of course. Your set up at a free kick strengthens one angle at the expense of another. In every instance you are protecting the percentages and leaving the toughest route to goal open, to be protected by the keeper.
The first free kick found a way around the wall. The second took on the open route. Just Rice showing us he can do both :-)
After all this, don't be surprised if he never scores from a free kick ever again :hehe::hehe:
No. I reckon he's gonna Titi it. His corners show he has a stunning set piece delivery, the FKs show that he has power to go with accuracy and he's such a talented footballer, Ganpati willing he can start doing it all the time like Titi did.
And if opposing teams put more men in the wall in response, that's more free men we have for a cross.
