    Dear old Denis. Peter. Whichever.
Denis was the daddy - and also as it turns out played First-Class cricket (albeit for Derbyshire). wd dhw

Is there any other club with such strong cricketing history as Arsenal, la?

I had no idea Brian Close played for our reserves/youth, btw.

I very much doubt it - impressive list. I think I did know the Close thing but had slipped my mind.

    Looking forward to reading this

Vaguely knew him when he was coach at Middlesex - always had some interesting stories

I remember him from his Sussex days, when he was notoriously chirpy and had a propensity for vocally encouraging Imran Khan and Garth Le Roux to do physical injury to the batsmen.

No - that is still Berni's fault

Ooh, la. On your benighted, foreign version of Netflix, can you get The Test? It's very good (although naturally it sees everything from a pro-Aussie point of view) and the remarkable thing about it is that you come out of it actually liking a lot of the Australian players.

Not David Warner, though. He's still clearly a massive c.unt.

"Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

"But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."
