Yes, the thing I found particularly shocking in that book was that the US government deliberately poisoned industrial alcohol in order to put people off drinking it - IN THE FULL AND CERTAIN KNOWLEDGE THAT THEY WOULD KILL THEIR OWN CITIZENS BY DOING SO.

Always worth bearing that in mind whenever some public health prick or prohibitionist type tells you they're thinking of the public good. Just remember these freaks would see you dead in order to achieve their ends.
