They were but how the hell was that a penalty and red card!!! Clean through, absolutely no reason to go over and clearly fouled, utter joke!
I think the red card is why they wouldn't give the penalty. They bottled it completely.
The attempts to explain it away were pathetic. It is unfortunate, and I'd agree a red card is harsh. But it is a clear penalty. Not giving it is scandalous

For me, on seeing a replay, that decision tonot give a penalty and red card is as bent as not giving a red card to van Nistelrooy for his (ahem) challenge on Cole. :fume:

I don't think a red is harsh, it's about the clearest denial of a goalscoring opportunity that you'll see.
