I don't know why I could enjoy them this year. Maybe the Easy story helped? But I remember some I went to that were torture. At the new gaff, I remember being 3-0 up with 50 mins played and we were in absolute control. But I just worried that we'd give them a goal and then it would be nervy and even though we were the better side, and I knew we'd win, I was worried they'd then score a late 2nd to make a really nervy finished.
The fact that we just kept control didn't stop me worrying. Only in injury time with it still at 3-0 did I begin to relax. I hated that second half of football. Almost more than that one when we were 2-0 at HT and lost 3-2 with our skipper, Cesc giving away a pen for handball in the wall. Or that one when they scored twice in the last 5 mins to make it 4-4 and I missed both our goals after HT still waiting for my ****ing coffee. Silvestre's only goal, I think. {God we used to buy rejects like him, not world class youngsters like Triphop and Hinchappy.}
Though Cesc picking their pockets at the post-goal kick off and waltzing through them to score while we were still watching the replays of RvP's goal was something special. Only hearing the sound change in the Clock End drew our eyes from the screens to the pitch.
But obviously the best was Titi's cos I was in the Norf Bank upper a bit to the right of centre. And he dribbled up the left {our right} and cut inside and looked to shoot. Then he thought, actually, I'm not directly in front of GG and his brother, so I better skip across the edge of the box a bit more, beat another Sperzer or two and then, when I'm directly in front of GG's seats*, only then will I whack it in the net and run down the Clock End to give it to the Spuds.
*I'm sure karmically, our old man chose those seats somehow knowing what would happen a decade or more later.
