    Exactly!

For all my complaining, I am a fair man. If I genuinely thought we were doing our best I would at least acknowledge it. The frustration comes from the fact that we are capable of better, and have proved it.

With a fair wind and a little slice of luck I think we could win the league next season without buying a striker. The goals are there in this side, and we know it. A quality midfielder might help us to control possession which, in my opinion, would make the bigger difference in our output.

The people going on about 'its always next season' seem to miss the point of supporting a football club. Of course we worry about next season. And the one after that. This is a lifelong commitment, not a Friday night bunk up

and AW was right, top 4 is a trophy (or 5 this season). Season starts and that's the no.1 priority as a minimum.

He was indeed correct. That said, after 9 years without a trophy I am sure we were all ****ing relieved when we won that FA Cup against Hull. I was so 'relieved' that I was ejected from the bar in Kuala Lumpur where I was watching it, after making some choice comments to a Chelsea fan sat nearby

If we are still trophyless by 2027, I will happily accept a **** cup. For now, I still don't care.

Think I had abour 4 pints in the first 18mins. At the end when Ollie hit the bar I thumped the table so hard I spillt my friend Carol's Magners all over her. She wasn't happy but I just about got away it. Didn't recall Ramsey's winner until I saw it the next day

I may have shouted 'wake up you bunch of ****s' when Gibbs headed another corner off the line at 2-0 down.

I was plastered by the end of the game. 6 hours of Kuala Lumpur Guinness

We absolutely need a striker, fair wind or otherwise. I?m fairly certain the board & Arteta couldn?t stem the tide of abuse, following another close miss.
There are bigger fish to fry, like gate attendances and sponsorships.

What if spend 60 million on a striker who is no better than Havertz? Or not a better fit for us than Havertz? Very, very few strikers will do a better job for us than him. A striker to replace Jesus and give us two viable options at centre forward is a great idea. But there seems to be an assumption that we can chuck out 70 or 80 million and get ourselves a Haaland or an Isak. That is a big, big ask.

No doubt we will sign someone. But from what I have seen of this Zubimendi, signing him will likely improve us in a way that no striker will.

    Amen, P

as well, I think what people missed in the Jesus/Havertz absences is that they are both more naturally better at holding the ball up/causing a nuisance up front. No reflection on Merino, who did a superb job in the circumstance, but that didn't come naturally to him. The new striker must have more strings to his bow than mere goalscoring.

It will boil some people's piss but the striker might not be first choice as you say!
