    Horrible place.

    Apart from the racecourse

It's not 52 year round, Peter

Not a fan of the place either, once was enough, although the children loved the dessert buffets and the water park.

Still, if you want that sort of thing the food and service can be outstanding. Just don't go in summer, Peter

Great, if you?re exasperated from a long UK winter and want some heat in your bones for a bit of respite. The big Mosque is the only landmark tourist visit worth doing, the rest is just copycat Dubai - Ferrari Park, Warners blah blah. The original older parts are more gritty and worth a look around - no tourists etc but aside from the usual malls there?s not much to see. Saadyat Island is a better loafing retreat than anything on offer in Dubai.
Service, safety and cleanliness is where these places score. There is a cost but 7 hours to get some Sun in the winter isn?t the worst call, unless you?re up for a long haul resort.
Minor point. I found Emirates to be better than Etihad on the flights, the food options were a bit grim.
Canaries. 4 hours. Mid 20s in December / January. Lots of Germans.

Still a bit of a gamble with the weather though. Good if you hit it right, grim if not. The other thing I?m really liking about Marrakech is that I?ve seen no evidence so far of a farking Irish bar.

Right, but generally when you 'live' somewhere you ae there.most of the time, right?

My point was it is too ****ing hot. And that is just unacceptable as far as I am concerned. I'll stick to Singapore

Yeah, very shiny but all a bit empty. All fur coat and no knickers

The golf courses looked quite nice. But I don't play golf...
