we have 6 forwards; one is useless and two are out for the season

5 midfielders; one has been playing up front, one is injured and one is suspended for the first leg

9 defenders; one is out for the season, one is just back from long term injury, two are injured and one is Zinchenko

Arteta should be nailed on for manager of the year imo

And... 5 red cards. Two of which were among the most ridiculous ever brandished, and two more debatable.

I'll leave you to work out which sending off I am accepting

There?s little doubt that had Liverpool lost various key players at the same intervals the league would look quite different.
It?s been a wasted season in many respects, although finishing runners up for the third season isnt too shabby.
There?s a chance with the CL, the season saviour, and at least the financials are looking healthy again.

Let's just be clear here. Winning the champions league would not simply save our season. It would transform the club and sit alongside our greatest ever achievements.

Never having won this competition or its predecessor is the biggest strike against us.

I'm not allowing myself to even dream about it unless/until we reach the final.
