Seats win elections, popular vote has some bearing but not decisive. Corbyn well behind on both but particularly in seats, which is what counts. He knows he would need absolutely everyone bar the Tries to put him in no. 10 and he knows that can't happen. So presumably he is asking for numbers to be ignored.
