Just watch the BBC and the liberal left media weep over the death of a corrupt left-wing murderer. Now if it was a corrupt right-wing murderer, it would be trebles all round.
He did say he would go when America fell, which is kinda what has happened with Trump so well done him.
Yes, in the brave new 'liberal' world, dictatorship, torture and oppression is all fine as long as the health service is free.
Generally I find Corbyn amusing more than anything, but his eulogy for Castro was pretty offensive to anyone with actual, real 'liberal' sensibilities.
I quite liked Fidel when he walked around in army fatigues waving a foot long Cohiba around while launching into his anti-American diatribes. You may not agree with him but no one can argue he didn't have style.
Not so sure about the murderer bit. Was he really a citizen killing commie or did he just knock off the odd opponent CIA stylee?
Thousands shot by firing squad, a couple of thousand extra-judicial assassinations, sinking boats full of escaping Cubans... actually, one might suggest that making a country so fúcking miserable that great swathes of the population are prepared to risk their lives bobbing around on a raft in the open sea in order to get away is crime enough in itself.
Well there are two relevant points here. Firstly, the pre-Castro regime was utterly corrupt and the large majority of the Cuban people lived in poverty with no chance of education or medical treatment at all. Revolutions don't generally occur when the people are happy. Secondly, I doubt Cuba would be nearly as impoverished were it not for the American sanctions, sanctions which were unjustly imposed in my view.
Plus, as I said, a Latino chap waving a Cohiba around is awfully appealing.
Your first point would perhaps have some relevance, had anyone suggested Batista was the good guy in this scenario, but as they haven't, it doesn't.
I'm sure the sanctions didn't assist Cuba economically, certainly, but then again I would be grateful if you could point me out anywhere that fúcked up socialist economic planning has ever created anything other than misery.
You've sort of skirted round the lack of democracy, human rights and basic dignities, of course. Are you a fan of well-known liberal Justin Castreau, perchance?
Oh I'm just playing devil's advocate, I agree entirely that socialism has yet to ever truly succeed anywhere. I mean, jaysus, I'm not f*cking Jorge, you know.
Cuba might have had a good chance, though. You need lots of natural resources, uneducated workers who are happy to be led and access to a large economy in relative proximity. I think Cuba had as good a chance as anyone had it not been for the US sanctions which were applied - let's be honest - because some awfully rich Americans and ex-Cubans were no longer quite so rich.
