Agreed, SD should insist on a better standard of management by the agencies of their workers.
I assume things like these prepaid cards are optional? Usually offered to recently arrived migrant workers who have no bank account. The agencies will no doubt receive an 'introduction reward' from the finance company.
Transline and Best Connection both use the mobile worker scheme (a tax avoidance scheme) to maximise their profits. A ludicrous scheme in reality but allowed (currently) by HMRC which sees the individual pay less tax but not all of the savings are passed on by the agency.
The strikes thing should be under pinned by a proper disciplinary policy and all this 'we can terminate you assignment at any time, without notice' is probably a bit rough around the edges and could be fairly easily challenged.
None of it unlawful but not in the right spirit.
Also, I am not quite sure how wearing branded goods is a breach of any safety and security rule.
