Well I think we can all agree in hoping there were no scousers on board.

We'd never hear the end of it.

Oh this just gets worse, I was ambivalent about the whole thing until I found out about the Brits

I tell you what, that blowing up passenger planes stuff is BANG out of order.

They were spared by the Lord*

*I in know way intend any opprobrium to be cast upon me, so I apologize in advance if I have offended anyone and offer my sincerest regret if such a scenario were to unfold. I assure you all that I do not derive joy from the deaths of innocent people (nor non-innocents).

Are you seriously suggesting we should give equal weight to tragedies that occur to non-Anglophones

as we do to Anglophones? Be realistic, j. If we cared about dead foreigners, we'd never stop feeling sad.

As the old newsroom rule has it: 'Dead Belgians don't count".

I understand that, I just find the ordering/emphasis a bit offensive

Leading with "nine britons killed in air crash" then shortly afterwards "almost 300 people died".

I wouldn't find it offensive if they swapped the order but it just makes no sense to me that nine dead of our lot is more of a story than 300 dead assorted furrins
