Thread: I'd forgotten how sexy a tap into an empty net is.

I'd forgotten how sexy a tap into an empty net is.

They often have two great passes leading to them. Not Bergy eye-of-a-needle stylee but still perfectly weighted.

And it's telling them that while they have 4 defenders and a goalie, we've still run them so ragged that we have a forward totally unmarked in the six yard box with a tap in our cat Puddle Paws could score.

And when you have two waiting for the tap in like Kai and Gabby for the 2nd goal, it takes the p?ss even more.

So let's have more of these - I've just remembered how fun they are. Don't get me wrong, I still love perfectly hit corners powered home with a header like our 3rd, shots from outside the box like TP5 and esp. B's cutting inside onto his left, going past people and hammering it into one or other top corner.

But with ?din back, B as good as ever and JT showing what he can do and hopefully starting to get the right wing triangle telepathy like Benny Blanc, hopefully we can get more of those. Kai and Gabby M are both on form, full of confidence and have the required movement and timing.

And when we eventually get a left side with the LB and inside left combining with Gabby like our right wing works, hopefully we'll get Kai and B tapping in Gabby M crosses.

Anyway, I now officially declare tap ins to an empty net sexy again.

    post reported to Gervinho...
“Other clubs never came into my thoughts once I knew Arsenal wanted to sign me.”

Gervinho was actually made of smoke. Somehow the air disturbed by the motion of a centre half anywhere near him was enough to knock him over. And that hair!

He certainly ranks with some of the most ridiculous players I have watched playing for us. Steve Walford, Rafael Meade, Ian Allinson... Pepe!

Alongside Gervinho... Rosicky's miss versus CSKA Moscow...

I once did similar in a match in the 90s, I still occasionally wake up in the middle of the night with a sense of disbelief and shame...I wonder if professionals do the same.

IIRC Henry and Fabregas also had some rather spectacular misses in that match.

Did it end 0-0? Fairly sure I was there for that one

It did. I was there that night. I'm sure some Russky mind control device was used on our players when in their box...

Found a video, though not on Youtube

I don't remember that. {Could have been travelling given the era he played for us.} Gotta link?

But those first two tap-in goals the other night were sexy, weren't they?

    Which countries were the Norgies playing when ?din was injured? On top of all else he does, he creates more space for B {and BW/JT on the overlaps or decoy runs.}

And Cala inverting into DM and ?din dragging players with him meant we were able to have both TP5 and Dec in the inside-right spot to play the balls through for the crosses for the tap-ins.

I'm so chuffed JT's fitting in so well at RB, and TP getting back to his best. But would still like to see Dec at DM and MnM at inside-left cos he looks a very good player. He's got end product, wins duels, can pick a pass and has the height to win aerial duels. A 2nd outlet if Raya goes long.

Btw, Raya. Is it just me or is he the best goalie we've had since Mad Jens? Pulls off some amazing saves, very secure with crosses and superb distribution.

This is what I mean about those c?nts playing the Norgies and injuring our skipper. When everyone's fit and in form, this is by far the best team we've had since AW's at his peak.

Lose two titles to financial doping and could now lose won cos of some c?nt from some sh?thole country deliberately hurting our skipper in a meaningless friendly.

We just need to make sure we qualify in the top 8 in the CL, get no more injuries and hit top form in time for the round of 16.

Raphael Meade scored a hat-trick in my first ever reserve match with my old man.

The had 3 black players as the spine of the team. Chris White at CH. I told my dad Raphael Meade would play for England {I was about ten.} He laughed and said I doubt it, but the black midfielder seems to have a decent left peg and could be the real deal. Just ask Glenn Cockerill's jaw.
