So Unai Emery has Villareal in a CL semi then

    wd Unai.

Always thought there was a very good manager in there, for some time it appeared that way on the pitch as well.

A victim of his lack of English and a slightly toxic dressing room, I think.

Emery was hard done by. The board overruling his Zaha signing in favour of Pepe and the the same motely crew of players that got Wenger sacked was what done him in. He didn't have enough transfer windows to get rid of the deadwood. Bar Leicnstiner who was only squad filler anyway all his signing were great and brought the needed grit and steel to the squad. Insanely those players, Torriea and Gwen were booted out by Arteta then.

All true although Torreira had limitations and Gwendoozi is a mentaller.

He lost the dressing room, AAR, so he had to go. However he did much of the dirty work which the club needed and that meant Arteta didn't have to do it. See Ramsey and Ozil no longer being able to stroll around for 90 minutes completely disinterested in their defensive responsibilities, as a good example.

    Lack of English.

His main managing technique was 2 hr video analysis sessions. That can only work if your fluent. If you can't really understand him, you just switch off, as reportedly happened.

This and engaging in numerous extramarital affairs with dirty little skanks. Bro…next time just get a top end escort ffs

Agree with Pat on his voice…that got out of hand towards the end and even Linekar of all people was taking the p iss out of him.

One thing I will always credit him for is being 1st. I mean someone had to be the first one to come in after Wenger. Daunting task but at least during that period he started the process of saying no and kicking people out. We had to do it and someone needed to step up and start that process. So fair play. I have no doubt if it was Arteta trying to do that the old poisonous group would’ve torn him to shreds after a couple of months.

It was good seeing him school the boy though

Whose the French lad in midfield? He looks good…I’d have him here. Francis something or another. Top notch imo.
